    The exhibition project Middle Gate II – The Story of Dymphna is a collaboration between M HKA (Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp) and the cultural centre de Werft in Geel. Middle Gate II is the follow up to the exhibition Middle Gate, curated by Jan Hoet in Geel in 2013. The exhibition concept is closely tied to the legend of the holy Dymphna, saint of the possessed, the mentally ill and patroness against epilepsy and insanity. The legend of Dymphna shares a strong connection to the identity of Geel, "the charitable city".

    Literary synopsis

    Crimeways tells the tale of New York under siege by an underground band of aesthetic criminals who threaten to destroy a landmark in the name of art. Attempts are made to save the city from these artistic fascists and their bad taste.     Relation of the novel to the artist’s practice

    Crimeways is the third book in the Ways series – anthologies of anonymously written stories which, put together, are "novels" that challenge traditional notions of narrative genres. In this case, the detective novel. Conceived by conceptual artist Rita McBride the book is co-published by Printed Matter, the Whitney Museum of American Art and Arsenal Pulp Press.
